I just wanted to share how excited I am that The Black Keys have a new album coming out on May 13th! The album is titled, "Turn Blue". They have released a track from the album called, "Fever". I must say is pretty catchy. The bass lines and the keyboard just makes it so funky! I absolutley love it.
FYI!! You can also pre-order this album and get 2 tracks from album for free!
Check out the song yourself and tell me it's not catchy and awesome.
But if you don't like it, don't say it to my face 'cause I'm pretty sure I won't be able to handle it. Haha just kidding, kinda...
This article has been long over due, I apologize. I've been neglecting my blog, I hope you can forgive me blog. Oh, and everyone that reads it... yeah that's more important. Thanks blog readers!
So after searching up a bunch of artists on Bandcamp, I found a couple really good bands all over. After a good couple hours sitting on my butt in the middle of the after noon, still in my pajamas, I decided to go with this Boston based band called, Modern Baseball. They're a pretty good pop punk band, I really like the vocals, I think it's because it's not the best singing ability but it works for the genre. Plus also, they remind me of one of my favorite bands, Brand New. Not entirely, but they have some similarities.
Anyways, check them out cause they pretty good pop punk band!
Yes, that's right! You read this right. Wolfmother has come out with a new album titled, "New Crown". I will admit that I did lose touch with Wolfmother since their self titled album in 2005. With hit tracks like, "Woman" and "Joker and The Thief". I know, I'm a little bit mad at myself. If you haven't heard either of those songs, then you need to educate your self! They are some crazy awesome psychedelic Austrailian rockers. Since then, they released their second album "Cosmic Egg" in 2009. Anyways enough of that nonsense. ON TO THE ALBUM...
Right off the bat, the first track, "How Many Times", immediately gets you rocking out to the classic rock vibe, with a sweet guitar riff to start it off, and some face paced head bangin' to follow it up. They had some psychedelic sound to each of their songs, especially 'New Crown' and 'Tangerine Dream'. But the keyboard, played by Ian Peres, totally makes it though. Plus the sound quality really makes you feel like your there, like hanging out in the garage while their just jamming. Which I guess could be a bad thing for most bands because sound quality is everything, but for Wolfmother, the type of sound they have, it totally works. The bass line by Chris Ross on the song, 'New Crown', reminds me of something Flea would do in Red Hot Chili Peppers, but this is totally funky and psychedelic. I would highly suggest checking this song out! 'Feelings' had more a of a punk side to the album, but still equally as good. 'I Ain't Got No' is my favorite song on the album, it's a really good hard rock song. The distortion on the guitar is excellent and the drums done by Vin Steele makes the album amazing. Couldn't have the head banging without you Vin Steele!
Listening to this album really makes me want to see these guys live. I can just imagine how much they rock out and how much fun it would be at one of their shows. It kind of takes you back to what you'd think Wolfmother's original sound would be. At least for me, it would be back in 2005. The musical talent that these guys have, makes one big awesome band. Andrew Stockdale's voice is just the cherry on top of the big band cake.
So this month there is just one song stuck in my noggin. That song is called, "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" by Kendrick Lamar. I'm not a huge rap fan, and I certainly couldn't tell you if he's the best rapper ever. Rap music just isn't my genre. But I do know one thing, I like Kendrick Lamar's music. I like the fact that he doesn't rap about everything that other famous rappers rhyme about, he raps about his life and his problems. Plus also, his beats are sick.
Anyways, his song "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" has been popping up in my head at work, driving around, and just while I'm sitting here on the computer. Take a listen and tell me the chorus doesn't get in your head. Go on, go on!
You're Useless (Now That I Need Your More Than Ever Before)
Midnight Chorus
We're All Gonna Die!
Does the name sound familiar? I featured these guys on the February version of, 'LOOK WHO I FOUND'. I liked them so much, that I bought their album, 'We Became Monsters'. If you haven't read that article, then you should know that I legit stopped what I was doing to check out who this band was online. You know as well as I do when you stumble upon an awesome band by accident, how amazing they have to be. This is no joke people!
Anyways, I bought this album and immediately loved their sound. They're so creative and different than anything I've heard. When I first heard them, it came to my attention that they sound like a modern day Queen. The imagery in the lyrics are so unreal, I could picture them perfectly. The way they harmonize their voices together and place their music, I feel like I'm listening to a rock musical! They play around with the melodies and make them so catchy. The notes on the piano just bounce, the guitar solos, and the drum beats are just awesome. You can tell that they play off each other and play around with the sounds of their instruments. It's all really fun music.
There's a couple songs on this album that I can relate to. The 7th track titled, "The Idiot Parade", which is basically about all the dim witted people out there in the world. I feel like I should listen to this song when I'm driving and having road rage, I'm thinking this song will make me feel better. Haha. Also the 9th track, "Rich Kid Show", that has got some totally sarcastic lyrics in it and I love it! Oh, and the 4th track, "Peas and Porridge", actually surprised me. Why you ask? Because the vocals sound like Christian Jacobs from the band The Aquabats. But I was mistaken, the vocals where in fact Major Powers band member and founder, Nick Powers. It just goes to show how talented these guys are.
This band is really meant for everyone, because some bands or artists have sound for a certain age group, young or old. For Major Powers & The Lo-Fi Symphony, I don't think that's the case. I don't really think there's a genre for these guys, which I like. But according to the band, they made up their own genre, 'Adventure Rock'. Yeah, I think that about sums it up.
