I do not like his voice at all!

So I've been told that I need more variety in my blog. Meaning, I only post what I like on my blog. Therefore, I've decided to write an article about a band that I'm not too crazy about. But mostly just the vocals. You may or may not have heard of them, but they are called, Pierce The Veil.

I've known of this band for a good while, but and I've tried and tried to like them. But it hasn't happened. Sometimes I just don't understand how they got as famous as they are. Now the reasoning for this, is because of  the singing....oh my goodness. It sounds like a whiny baby that has been stepped on every time he sings. It's just so high pitched, I can't handle it. I just don't like this band, maybe if they got a new vocalist. Because the screaming is okay, but the singing ruined it for me. :[

His voice, compared to amazing vocalists in bands, like Craig Owens from Chiodos and Drugs, or Jeremy Mckinnon from A Day To Remember. Those guys are good. Like mind blowing good.
But the dude from Pierce The Veil doesn't even compare. It's pretty bad.

I know this is pretty harsh but hey, someone asked, I delivered.
BOOM!

Alternative Press Magazine

This magazine is so cool, it's all about up and coming bands. Much like the magazine title, it's all alternative, hardcore, and indie bands. Right up my alley! I think it's pretty much my dream job to work for this magazine. One day...

ANYWAYS,
I've been reading this magazine since I was in high school and I have my collection of Alternative Press Magazines. I pick up this mini-mag at Barnes and Noble the other day and I thought it was such a great idea having bands write how much they love other bands. How their music inspired other musicians, and what they particularly like about that certain band. It gives you a chance to see that bands playing together, isn't like a competition, they are fans of that band just as much as you are. It puts everything into a different perspective.

I just thought I would share how rad this is.

Wolfmother @ The Fillmore in SF

Last night was awesome!
There were only 2 bands playing, and the first up was Electric Citizen. The name kind of threw me off because I was thinking that they were going to be some sort of an electronic band. But I was totally wrong.
Their sound is a classic rock vibe, the female lead singer totally made it though. She had really long thick hair, and had swung it up, down, to the side, and all over the place. She had amazing stage presence. She reminded me of Heart, and Janis Joplin. Total 70's chick on stage. The band itself had so much energy, and really rocked the stage.

Wolfmother was next! They totally blew the roof off The Fillmore. They sound even better live then on CD. Even better too, that the fans were rocking out as well as I was. One song after another, I couldn't stop dance and bobbing my head. Just so much amazingness, and so much rock, I absolutely loved it. Andrew (lead singer) talked to the crowd and got the crowd involved in the songs several times. Mosh pits broke out here and there, I was thinking about joining, but I couldn't stop dancing. Definitely one of my top 5 favorite concerts.

Especially things going on my personal life, this concert totally just made me as peace.
It was a great show, with great people. If you thinking about going to a Wolfmother show, or even giving them a listen for that matter. I highly recommend it. If you don't, I will find you....

Not really, but you should really do it.

CURRENT SONGS THAT WILL NOT LEAVE MY HEAD

Now this time, it's not a song. It's an artist. You know her well.

Lana Del Rey.

I bought her album, "Born To Die" a while ago. I literally listened to that album for a month. Her lyrics are so deep and pretty depressing. But there's totally feeling there, and thats why I couldn't stop listening to her. There were songs that I didn't like (Diet Mountain Dew, Carmen, National Anthem, Million Dollar Man) but I listened to them anyway. It was like an addiction. Her songs played in my head all day long.

What brings me to this article is that, I just listened to her new single, "West Coast". Oh my goodness. I'm sucked back in the Del Rey blackhole. I can't really put my finger on it, but there's something about her music as well. It's not all this dance/pop thats out there today. It's almost gangster-grunge-pop. ???

I have no idea.
But Lana Del Rey is on fire right now.
Damn girl!

LOOK WHO I FOUND!!

This time I actually discovered these guys by myself! Can you believe it? I was driving home from work and listening to the alternative radio station, I know... who listens to the radio anymore, right? Well I do, once and awhile. I get to learn about the awesome new artists that are out there. Sometimes though I do hear the not so good artists...wah wah wahhhh. But I'm glad I did this time though, 'cause then I wouldn't have discovered, Milky Chance.

It's two guys in the band, and they are pretty much, acoustic but also indie. If that gives you a clue. The vocals are so scratchy and rough, but I think it totally works. The music just has a steady electronic beat, with the acoustic guitar strumming over it. It's just really catchy and chilling music. I've been listening to their tracks all week long before I finally got time to sit and write about it!

Take a listen to these songs and hear for yourself!
